Lives on our farm in southeast Minnesota, near Caledonia. He grew up in Minnesota and graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Master’s Degree in animal science.

 

He worked for the University in various roles, starting out at the dairy unit at the Waseca Experiment Station; moving to the dairy research barn on campus while attending graduate school; and as a dairy educator in extension for 10 years. His area of emphasis has been dairy nutrition, with a focus on feeding high-quality forage.

 

He has done extensive research on growing alfalfa and different grasses, triticale, cover crops and summer annuals, and looking at their forage value. His career has emphasized feeding high-quality forage. He also has operated his own dairy farm and consulted on dairy farms in southeastern Minnesota.
